Welcome to Twin Ports Division of the U.S. Navy Cadets! The Navy Cadet Corps is congressionally chartered through the U.S. Navy and U.S. Navy League, where cadets ages 13-18, have the unique opportunity to serve at an earlier age. During their service, they train and work in the same skills found in the fleet, at the reserve and active duty level. Members have the choice to continue their military service onto active duty, into any branch, after successful completion of their enlistment in the Corps; however, if they do, they will be eligible for promotion after completing boot camp. The first 3 ranks they earn (E-1 to E-3) are their ranks they take with them if they choose to transfer to active duty in the Navy or Coast Guard. All other branches are normally E-2, due to the differences in the non-maritime services. If continuing their military service isn't desired after successful completion of their enlistment in Twin Ports Division, individuals during their service still should have: Earned many benefits, traveled, learned trades in both military & civilian sectors, earned competitive certifications/qualifications, and most importantly, served their country.
Twin Ports Division specializes in Damage Control (shipboard firefighting), Medical, and shipboard operations. Our sailors are taught values they will use for the rest of their lives such as Honor, Courage, and Commitment. We drill one weekend per month, year-round, and all cadets must attend at least one two-week training (TWT) annually. Two-week trainings cover many career fields from seamanship, firefighting, aircraft ground school, music, Navy SEALs and SEABEE (Construction Battalion), medical, law-enforcement/anti-terrorism (ATFP), special operations, culinary specialties, STEM, and engineering to name a few. The Navy is a unique branch because it has the most jobs that transfer to the civilian sector since ships are their own floating, self-sustained cities. Our unit works with all other branches on a regular basis which provides excellent joint training. Simply put, this is the real deal. We consistently emphasize to parents and their new prospective recruits coming into this that this is no different than active duty, and Twin Ports Division is held to the same standards and undergoes the same EXACT training. Nothing is "watered down". The only difference between Twin Ports Division and active duty Navy is just the age of the people serving. Even then, on average, there are only 1-3 years of age separation between our sailors and those on active duty.
