On Tuesday, June 3, 2014 the Duluth Area Chamber of Commerce and Visit Duluth will host a public forum event wherein Mayor Ness will update the community on the proposed half-and-half tax to develop the St. Louis River Corridor. The rescheduled FORVM will be held at the Inn on Lake Superior (350 Canal Park Drive) from 8:00am – 9:30am.
In 2009 Mayor Ness organized a St Louis River Corridor Summit and brought together over 70 stakeholders to develop a comprehensive vision for the area. These efforts are directed at turning this scenic area into an outdoor adventure and tourism destination.
Mayor Ness has proposed re-instating the half-and-half tourism tax to fund this vision and put it on a fast track to becoming a reality. Join the Chamber and Visit Duluth for a discussion on May 6 with Mayor Ness as he works to move forward with developing the St. Louis River corridor into a recreational hub.
Think of this event as a modern spin on the town hall meeting, a gathering place to discuss issues that affect business. The FORVM endeavors to inspire candid conversation among people of diverse interests and opinions, sponsored by the Duluth News Tribune.
