In 2009 Mayor Ness organized a St Louis River Corridor Summit and brought together over 70 stakeholders to develop a comprehensive vision for the area. These efforts are directed at turning this scenic area into an outdoor adventure destination. Mayor Ness has proposed re-instating the half and half tourism tax to fund this vision and put it on a fast track to becoming a reality.
