August and the dog days of summer are soon upon us and we aren’t quite ready to give up on warm days and outdoor activities. The fall will come quickly enough and the political campaigns will kick into high gear. Yet, an important date looms earlier then we typically anticipate. August 14th is the primary in which three 8th District candidates will vie for the chance to contest Congressman Chip Cravaack in the General election.
At the Chamber we believe that we can best participate in the political process by serving to help educate our members rather than endorsing or supporting individual candidates. That approach has worked well in past elections and we intend to continue the practice. As such, we are pleased to host the August FORVM, one week before the primary, at which all three candidates - Jeff Anderson, Tarryl Clark and Rick Nolan - have agreed to appear. The FORVM has proven to be a venue at which topics of timely interest are discussed, and we are confident the candidates will provide for a lively discussion on the issues.
